"Our Beautiful Daily Life" Yesim Agaoglu solo exhibition in the Center of Contemporary Art, 05/04/2012

United Artist’s Club Presents
solo exhibition by Yeşim Ağaoğlu
The exhibition will be held at the Center of Contemporary Art

Employing a variety of medium, Yeşim Ağaoğlu gives us a poetic take on the ordinary made extraordinary. She has a profound interest in the humanity to be found in the urban and industrial landscape and transforms apparently ordinary objects, such as circuit boards and other found objects, into installations and images of compelling mystery and beauty.
By replacing the human figure into a fictive urban landscape constructed from the internal machinery of digital technology, she brings us to question the speed and direction of urban development. The scale of the modern city as our human habitat becomes an artificial construct, in which the organic development of habitable space is lost, thereby lending the urban landscape a sense of restriction and anonymity.
Ağaoğlu makes a claim to reinstate the human in the urban and the digital landscape; by playing with scale she makes reference to notions of architectural folly and delusions of grandeur in urbanization, and in doing so reminds us of an urgent need to rediscover humanity within an increasingly technologically dominated world.

  1. Realizing the strong need for such a business to business trade fair for the beauty industry in India, Nexus Exhibitions took the initiative in 2010 of bringing a commercial interactive platform for the entire beauty industry & organized the First Beauty Exhibition Trade Beauty Event called Beauty & Spa Expo in 2010 & subsequently in 2011. With these two successful Beauty shows,Nexus has been credited for revamping & rebuilding beauty exhibitions in India since 2010.
